Connect your Webflow site

Before you start

• A CMS collection to publish into, with a rich-text field for the article body. Webflow's own "Blog" starter collection works out of the box.
• You are signed in to Webflow as the site owner, or as a workspace member who may install apps.

Connecting in one click

1. In YoDon, open Sites and choose Connect a site, then Webflow.
2. Select Continue to Webflow. Webflow asks which workspace and which site to give YoDon access to.
3. Back in YoDon, choose the site.
4. Choose the collection. If YoDon finds a collection that looks like a blog, it is pre-selected — check it before continuing.
5. Confirm the field mapping and select Connect.

Connecting with a site API token instead

If one-click connect is not available, or you would rather not install an app, open "Connect with a site API token instead" in the connect dialog. In Webflow, go to Site settings, then Apps & integrations, then API access, and generate an API token with these scopes:

• CMS: read and write
• Assets: read and write
• Sites: read

Paste the token in YoDon and it lists the sites that token can reach.

Field mapping explained

Webflow collections are user-defined, so YoDon reads your collection's own fields and asks which one is which. When a collection looks like it was built for a blog, the common fields are filled in automatically — check them, then change anything that looks wrong.

Required:

• Body — a rich-text field. This is the only mapping YoDon cannot do without.

Optional, mapped when your collection has a matching field:

• Summary or excerpt
• Featured image
• Thumbnail image
• SEO title
• Meta description
• Published date
• Featured switch
• Author — a reference to another collection
• Categories — a reference or multi-reference to another collection

Categories and the author are matched by name in the collections they reference; a category that does not exist yet is created. If a collection field you mapped is later renamed or deleted in Webflow, reconnect and remap — see Troubleshooting below.

Making SEO title and description show up

YoDon writes the SEO title and meta description into whichever plain-text fields you mapped to them. Webflow only shows those values on the page once you bind the same fields in the Collection page template's SEO settings — this is a one-time setup, not something YoDon can do for you:

1. In the Webflow Designer, open Pages and select your Collection page template (for example, Blog Posts).
2. Open Page settings, then SEO settings.
3. Select Add field next to the meta title and description, and choose the field you mapped in YoDon (for example, seo-title and meta-description). Do the same under Open Graph settings if you want social previews to use them.
4. Publish the site once. Every article afterwards carries through automatically.

Drafts vs live

Send an article as a draft and it appears as an unpublished item in your Webflow CMS — read it, edit it and publish it whenever you like. Send it live and it goes live immediately as a published item, without waiting for a full site publish.

Refresh in place

A refresh rewrites the same item — same URL, no duplicate — so the page keeps its history instead of competing with a copy of itself.

Disconnect and revoke

Disconnecting from YoDon revokes the app's access if you connected in one click, or deletes the stored token if you connected with one. If access is revoked from the Webflow side instead, the site shows Reconnect in YoDon and its automations pause until you reconnect.

Troubleshooting

• "Webflow needs a full site publish" — this happens when your domains were last published at different times. Publish the site once in Webflow, then retry.
• "The field mapping is broken" — a field you mapped was renamed or deleted in Webflow. Reconnect the site and remap the fields.
• "Missing required field" — your collection has a required custom field YoDon has no value for. In Webflow, make the field optional, or map it in YoDon if it is one of the fields YoDon can fill.
